Photos: Ruth Simons Celebrates 100th Birthday
Ruth Simons was joined by friends, family, and political leaders on Saturday [Jan 17] as she celebrated her 100th birthday with a gathering at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Warwick.
With children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her side, Mrs. Simons was also visited by Premier Michael Dunkley and Opposition Leader Marc Bean, who both stopped by to extend their birthday wishes.

The celebration was marked by a rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero” by Mrs. Simons’ 10-year-old great-granddaughter Dakota, along with food prepared by chef Michiko Campbell, who is the fiance of Mrs Simon’s granddaughter Sherelle Simons.
Family and friends offered up well wishes and recounted memories, and prayers were provided by Pastor Dwayne Simons, while Pastor Judy Simons blessed the food.
At 100 years old, Ms. Simons, who was born in Somerset, has six children, one of whom has passed away, along with almost two dozen grandchildren.
