Minnesota North Stars 7 Colorado Rockies 6 – Overtime
The Minnesota North Stars got two goals from Ed Sweeney and Shannon Goose as they defeated the Colorado Rockies 7 – 6. , Ryan Sulley, Cory Caouette and Mike Gazzard all added a goal each. Jeff Clair scored a hat-trick for the Colorado Rockies, while Craig Macneil, Scott Shannon and Chris Merritt added a goal each.
Atlanta Flames 14 Quebec Nordiques 3
Jacob Amlong scored 4 goals to lead the Atlanta Flames to a 14 – 3 victory over the Quebec Nordiques. Jon Talbot and Matthew Benson both added hat-tricks, while Ian Nash scored twice, Chris Coleman and Richard Campbell added a goal each. Mathieu Desjardins, Bill Calko and JF Talbot all scored a each for the Quebec Nordiques.
Toronto Arenas 3 California Golden Seals 6
Joel Ferrier and Chad Cundliffe both scored twice to help the California Golden Seals record a 6 – 3 win over the Toronto Arenas. David Provost and Ian Gouthro added a goal each, while Glen Madore, Cam Poland and Jeffrey Ingleman all scored a goal each for the Toronto Arenas.
