Chris Powell: 2nd Yellow Card Was “Ludicrous”

February 9, 2015

“I think the second yellow card was ludicrous,” said Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell after Bermudian striker Nahki Wells was sent off during this weekend’s match against Millwall.

The referee red-carded Wells and showed yellows to five other players during the Huddersfield Town vs Millwall match, which saw Huddersfield record a 3-1 victory despite playing a portion of the second half with only 10 men.

After the match, Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell said, “Nahki is enthusiastic; he wants goals and he wants to play. You can’t take that away from him, because that’s the Nahki Wells we’ve come to know and love.

“At half-time I told him to watch himself and leave any 50-50s, because you know what can happen. Nahki knew exactly what I meant. I think the second yellow card was ludicrous.

“I’ve really grown to like Nahki and how he is, as well as what a good goal-scorer he is going to be. It’s a real shame that I’m going to lose him on Tuesday, but I’ve got other lads who want to do well too.”

  1. Prayerful says:

You hang in there, Nahki. Like your coach told you stay away from the 50-50 chances because you may not come out the winner.

We in Bermuda are all behind you.

    This was a shocking decision!
Both players were genuinely attempting to play the ball.
The fact that the other player went over Nahki makes him the more reckless player in the incident surely.

Maybe I’m being biased, and if anyone out there can explain to me how this is justified, then fair play.
    Huddersfield should appeal the decision.
