Photos: Bermuda vs Bahamas Football Game

Bermuda’s National Football team began their World Cup qualifying campaign with an impressive 5-0 win over the Bahamas last night [Mar 25], with goals from Dante Leverock, Nahki Wells, Zeiko Lewis and two from Justin Donawa.

Bermuda’s starting line-up was Freddy Hall, Jaylon Bather, Tyrell Burgess, Jaylen Harvey, Tre Ming, Drewonde Bascome, Zeiko Lewis, Rai Simons, Dante Leverock, Justin Donawa, and Nahki Wells, while Andrew Bascome served as the head coach.

Dante Leverock opened the scoring for Bermuda in the first few minutes, Nahki Wells converted a penalty in the 14th minute, Zeiko Lewis scored a goal in the 29th minute and Justin Donawa scored two goal to push Bermuda to a 5-0 victory.

Following the match, Bahamas head coach Dion Godet said, “We ran into a very very talented Bermuda squad. They shot the ball well, they held shape and their pace of play was pretty dynamic and they just overwhelmed us,” while Bermuda’s head coach Andrew Bascome said, “Once we were in control of the game I just told them to focus defensively and on ball control to keep possession. I was very pleased with the goals scored, especially because we struck fast.”

The players are all now heading to Bermuda, where Berrmuda will play their second match against the Bahamas at 3.00pm on Sunday, March 29th, at the National Sports Center. Tickets for that match are available via www.ptix.bm, or from Freisenbruch Meyer and the BFA Office.
