Seized America’s Cup Boat Ordered Released

March 20, 2015

A catamaran seized by marshals in the United States following a lawsuit filed against Oracle Team USA by fired sailor Joe Spooner has been ordered released by a federal judge.

The boat was seized as Mr. Spooner claimed wrongful termination against the group; he was allegedly fired “after he asked for a raise to help cover the cost of relocating to Bermuda” in order to take part in the upcoming America’s Cup in 2017.

Mr. Spooner’s suit is seeking at least $725,000 in damages.

An Associated Press report said, “A federal judge has ordered marshals to release America’s Cup champion Oracle Team USA’s souped-up catamaran, which was seized on March 9 after fired sailor Joe Spooner sued the syndicate.

“Judge Joseph C. Spero issued the order Wednesday, one day after telling attorneys for the two sides to meet during the next two weeks to discuss a settlement. Spero allowed the lawsuit to proceed.”

Great… common sense approach… in this way the sponsers aren’t out of pocket, you have to realise there practice time has been diminished, the people who have yearley sponsored for research developement and implementation have been adversely affected, their “collective” investments are adversely reduced by this action. Cause and affect… implimentation of… then… also win or loss and sonsorship afterwards are also effectually diminished….. maybe not…. maybe… just maybe…. this has created an underdog with the will and spirit to win Americans and Americas Cup pretty much represents….
