Carlos Lee Appointed Pan Am Chef De Mission
The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] today announced that Carlos Lee [pictured] has been named Chef de Mission of the Bermuda team that will attend the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto Canada from 10 to 26 July.
Established in 1951, the Pan American Games are the world’s third largest international multi-sport festival after the Olympics and Asian Games. The Pan Am and Parapan Am Games are held every four years. Athletes from the 41 member nations of the Pan American Sports Organisation [“PASO”] compete.
To date, Bermuda has qualified six athletes for competition in Toronto, in Equestrian, Gymnastics, Sailing, and Cycling. The BOA will officially name the full 2015 Bermuda Pan Am team in the coming weeks.
In his role as Chef de Mission, Mr. Lee will be the lead representative of Team Bermuda, supporting and mentoring the athletes and serving as spokesperson and liaison with Games officials and organisers.
Mr. Lee of Southampton Parish has served as Treasurer on the BOA’s Executive Board since 2008. He is an avid sportsman and represented Bermuda at the 1987 Pan American Games in Men’s Field Hockey.
He also played First Division Soccer for Southampton Rangers SC, Commercial League Soccer for Forties FC and Fire Service FC and continues to play in the 20/20 Evening Cricket League for PwC Byes.
