Ayo Johnson: ‘Temporary Shutdown’ Of Politica

April 12, 2015

Think Media announced a “temporary shutdown” of its digital journal, Politica, with founder Ayo Johnson saying “After a year of testing, experimentation and careful listening, we have a clearer idea of what it might take to provide high quality, high integrity journalism on a sustainable basis. Its now time to revamp, redesign and redevelop.”

Mr Johnson said Politica will have “limited functionality as Think Media enters the next phase of its development,” adding that supporters are encouraged to subscribe to its newsletter through the website.

“We will provide updates from time to time – first to our newsletter subscribers and then to the general public via press releases such as this one,” Mr Johnson said.

“We hope to engage some of our supporters in our redevelopment plans. And when we return, our newsletter subscribers will be the first to receive exclusive discounts and offers.”

“We want to thank the thousands of critics and supporters, saboteurs and angels, who have provided valuable input so far. Now we’re taking a break to absorb the lessons learned and fine-tune our service and business model.”

He said, “We promised a high standard of journalistic excellence and many have told us that we have delivered. But we also know that there is room for improvement. So stay tuned as we prepare to set the bar even higher.”
