Harlequins To Host “Coach The Coach” Seminar
Harlequins RFC will be visiting to Bermuda to take part in the Atlantic Rugby Cup in June 2015 and as part of their visit, the professional coaches and players of Harlequins have agreed to hold a “Coach the Coach” seminar at the Hamilton Princess on Tuesday, June 2 from 5.00pm until 7.00pm.
“The event is free to attend and is designed to provide a general overview of coaching professional sports teams and athletes – not focusing any one specific sport,” a spokesperson said.
“The seminar will focus coaches and teachers on the balance between the needs of the individual athlete with those of the team whilst allowing individual expression within a team framework. The Harlequins Academy coach will provide advice on nurturing and developing young talent.

“Harlequins are one of the most successful rugby clubs in the world – having won the English premiership in 2012 and the European Challenge Cup in 2011. They are the chosen club of England captain Chris Robshaw and last season’s Premiership forward of the year, Nick Easter.
“Their on field success can be attributed to a number of key factors – both on and off the field – which the coaches have agreed to share with our islands coaches, teachers and interested parties. Bermuda is delighted to welcome some of the key people who have played a major part in the club’s successes in recent years – we are truly blessed to have these individuals open their minds and techniques to our sporting communities.
“Colin Osborne, the Head Skills Coach of Harlequins, accompanied by Academy coach Howard Graham are coming to the island during the first week in June to part in the Harlequins Beyond Rugby Fundraising initiative. They will be presenting and providing advice and insight into how to achieve success in high performance sport – the Harlequins way.
“Harlequins’ England and British Lions players Nick Easter and Ugo Monye will join their coaches to bring a players perspective to the seminar and provide their thoughts on the theory laid down by the coaching staff.
“Following the talk, the Harlequins coaches will be joined by several of Bermuda’s top sports coaches. These coaches will provide a local perspective and analysis on how the advice and knowledge can be utilised by the local coaches and teachers in the audience. The organizers expect a healthy debate and will be encouraging the audience to fully participate in the seminar with questions and comments to the visiting and local sports coaches.
“Coaches, mentors and teachers of all sports or community projects, no matter what level, are encouraged to attend what promises to be an exciting opportunity for Bermuda to learn from the best. Refreshments will be provided. For further information on this seminar and the Atlantic Rugby Cup, visit here.
