June 26, 2015

Bermuda’s Jessica Lewis has achieved the qualifying time in three events for the 2016 Rio Paralympics, gaining the ‘A’ standard in the 100m. and ‘B’ standards in the 400m and 800m.

Although Ms Lewis has achieved the qualifying times, she must still wait for the ‘official’ word from the International Paralympic Committee that Bermuda will be given a place at the games.

The Rio Games would mark Ms Lewis’ second Paralympic appearance, following after her showing at the 2012 London Paralympics in which she became the first Bermudian sprinter to compete in the prestigious Paralympic Games.

“Thank you Tokio Millennium Re for sponsoring me over the last two years. Your generosity is truly helping me on this amazing journey. Thanks to my personal trainers Scott and Chico for building up my biceps to be bigger than my Dads!

“A lot gets Coach Ken excited, but nothing like hearing that his athlete has qualified for a Paralympic games. Huge thanks to you Coach Ken for everything you do for me on and off the track. I definitely would not be where I am now without you. We did it!!”
