A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can report a very busy weekend with significant calls for service; however there were very few incidents of note over the four day National Heroes’ Day holiday weekend.

“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation as well as the organizing committee of the Heroes’ Day weekend for a well-planned event and the constant flow of communication with police along with a comprehensive security strategy.”

How many drunk driving arrests? This should have been easier than shooting fish in a barrel.

I would add to this. I happened to be in Dockyard twice on Saturday, once at 7:30 a.m. and again at 9:45 a.m.. The first time I noted a complete lack of police presence at the same time when hundreds of people would be leaving the Carnival and hopping in their cars to get home. The second time up I was held up by five police cars tending the scene of the serious accident of the rider leaving Dockyard outside Woody’s.
It’s an unacceptable level of apathy from the police to prevent incidents as this from happening in the first place.
