Regiment Band To ‘Beat The Retreat’ Tonight

July 22, 2015

The Band and Corps of Drums of the Bermuda Regiment will put on its last display of military music of the season tonight [July 22] on Front Street, as the Regiment will make the last of three appearances to Beat the Retreat as part of the Harbour Night celebrations.

“And – in line with themed previous appearances – tonight’s performance will salute Regiment supporters, particularly the Bank of Bermuda Foundation and the Bermuda Regiment Charitable Trust, both prime movers behind the armed service’s 50th anniversary celebrations, a spokesperson said.

“Major William Madeiros of the Bermuda Regiment Charitable Trust and David Hamshere, chairman of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation will be guests of honour at the event.”

Stephen Caton, a retired Regiment Major and a member of the Regiment’s own charity arm, said, “The pomp and pageantry the Band and Corps of Drums lends to any event is just one of the roles the Regiment plays and it’s a very important one.

“As this will be the last Front Street performance of the season, everyone should try to get along to watch and listen, as well as show their personal support for the work the Regiment does to protect the country and enhance its culture.”

The show starts at 9pm at the Flagpole on Front Street.
