Troncossi Presentation: Crisis Communications
Troncossi Public Relations will deliver a speech on crisis communications on Friday, July 10.
The speech is part of a series of talks about how public relations and social media can assist businesses in reaching their goals.
This week’s presentation will look at how public relations tactics can be used to react to negative publicity about a company and how organisations can prepare in advance to avoid or mitigate a crisis in the public eye.
The topic will also cover how traditional public relations techniques can be combined with today’s new communications channels to address issues affecting a company’s reputation.
Troncossi said, “A survey by Burson-Marsteller found that 95 per cent of chief executives surveyed believed that corporate reputation plays an important or very important role in the achievement of business objectives. Losing a good reputation can impact a company significantly.
“For example, a badly handled crisis can significantly impact a company’s share price, e.g. Exxon’s share price plunged 20 per cent after the Exxon Valdez incident. Smaller organisations could be overcome by a loss of reputation that may even threaten their survival. This is where PR support can be invaluable.
Elizabeth Tee [pictured], Managing Director at Troncossi Public Relations, says: “Bad news can happen to any organisation as a result of unpredictable events. The skillful handling of a major issue or crisis can maintain a good reputation and even protect against a drop in market share.
“Friday’s session will help to ensure companies are best prepared to weather a storm when faced with a difficult situation whether it’s with shareholders, the union or media or on social media platforms, to ensure their reputation remains intact.”
Kendaree Burgess, Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce, says: “While no company wants to be faced with a crisis, preparation is key. We look forward to hearing from Troncossi Public Relations about tips for preparing for such an event and how to deal with it should disaster strike.”
The cost of the seminar is $10 [$20 including lunch] for Chamber members or $40 including lunch for non-members. The presentation takes place from 12-2pm at the Chamber of Commerce on Point Pleasant Road in Hamilton. Businesses interested in signing up for the July 10 speech can register via the Chamber at: www.bermudachamber.bm.
Additional speaking topics include Personal PR on October 30 and How to use Social Media to Promote Your Business on a date to be determined.
