Dockyard Family Festival Set For This Weekend

August 11, 2015

The second Royal Naval Dockyard Family Festival will be taking place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16, from 12.00pm through 7.00pm each day.

The event will include arts, crafts, Gombeys, dance groups, majorettes, food and novelty vendors, train and pony rides, archery, laser tag, fun castles, rides, tug of way, and a glass bottom boat; admission is free.

A spokesperson said, “This time around we will be closing off the Clocktower Parade road [the road in front of the Mall] in order to include more teen and adult friendly activities/games. Traffic will be diverted around the back of the Mall so there will still be access in and out of Dockyard the entire time.

“The Committee Of Five has been speaking with Sea Express in order to arrange extra ferries and should be informing the public of this once they get a response. Parking will once again be at Malabar Field [for a small charge] and there will be shuttles from the field into the Dockyard.”

Has WEDCo not learned it’s lesson yet? Pony rides in August in the afternoon. Seriously people get it together and show some compassion. People have a choice if they want to run around in the heat, the animals don’t. You don’t need to include pony rides to make the day a success.
