Junior Fishing Tournament Set For August 23
The fourth annual Bermuda Anglers Club Junior Fishing Tournament is set to take place on Sunday, August 23, with organizers saying that the event promises to be “as popular as ever.”
Run by the Bermuda Anglers Club [BAC], the event is open to all boys and girls 16 years and under, and is free to enter.
The tournament will be on a rain or shine basis, with participating children to begin fishing at 8.30am in the morning.
The weigh-in will be held west of the Flagpole on Front Street between 3.00pm and 5.00pm, with each child who comes to the weigh station receiving a free t-shirt.
New for 2015, the school that has the most children attend the weigh-in will win the Logic-sponsored $500 prize for their school’s physical education program.
Prize giving will be held at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club on Saturday, August 29 at 10.00am, with 25 prizes up for grabs.
Tournament Director Kip Froud said, “It looks like we will have around 100 kids participating in 2015. And we are delighted Logic, Butterfield & Vallis , Makin Waves, C-Mart Ltd have come on board again as sponsors of this event, as has Flybridge Tackle.
“The support of these organisations means a lot to the success of this important event”. Free entry to the Junior Fishing Tournament is also made possible by the success and funding of the BAC’s International Light Tackle Tournament, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in June 2016.”
Children and parents wanting to make last minute entries should contact the BAC by email at bacajft@gmail.com or call on 337-6065. Entry forms are available online.
