Doppler Radar In ‘Testing & Observation’ Status

September 4, 2015

The Doppler Weather Radar has been undergoing repairs by BAS-Serco and manufacturer technicians, the government said today, adding that there will be short periods when the radar is unavailable due to maintenance and the radar will “remain in ‘testing and observation’ status until declared officially operational.”

“Radar images are now available for viewing by the public via www.weather.bm and local weather channels,” a spokesperson said.

“From time to time, there will be short periods when the radar is unavailable during points of maintenance and calibration. Please note that the radar is not yet fully functional and will officially remain in ‘testing and observation’ status until declared officially operational.”

From a local perspective this has got to be one of the most useful tools on the internet .

Please make sure it’s bullet proof and as reliable as can be , even in storm systems . This is one of the harshest environments in the world for electronic equipment and it wouldn’t be well received after all of this down time if it keeps failing from here on .

Didn’t it already undergo a testing and observation period? ?? Can we not do the testing during severe weather?

    • Couch Sailor says:

That makes sense, as soon as we are ready to test just order up some severe weather

Why can’t we just use Accuweather’s Digital Doppler? They always advertise it. Where’s Accuweather’s office anyway, so I can go rattle their chain?
