Manders, Brooks Win Clay Court Championships

October 31, 2015

Gavin Manders was too much for Jenson Bascome to handle as he overpowered his Davis Cup teammate to become the Bermuda Clay Courts Champion today [Oct 31].

Manders — who received a $2,000 cheque courtesy of sponsors Moet & Chandon — dominated the match 6-1 6-1 to cement his position as Bermuda’s top tennis player.

Earlier, unseeded Ashley Brooks finished a wonderful week at Coral Beach & Tennis Club as she lifted the Women’s Open Singles title after defeating Erika Bove 6-2 6-1 in the final round robin match.

Brooks is also $2,000 richer as a result. The runners-up in the Men’s and Women’s Open Singles – Bascome and Jacklyn Lambert – each receive $500 for their sterling efforts.
