A number of students graduated from C.A.R.E. Learning Centre on Thursday [Nov 19], with each receiving their G.E.D. High School Diploma and becoming the first recipients of the new 2014 GED, which is delivered exclusively on computer.
This year’s ceremony highlighted the success of 16-year-olds passing the GED test, and they received special mention during the programme of celebration for their success.
The graduates included Jordan M. Johnson, Kayla J. Kellman, Jordan Z. Lindsay, Nwaomiko H. Rock, Jahmari S. Sutton, and Giovanni M. Warren.
.
The ceremony included a commencement service and processional, followed by an opening prayer, scripture, and a hymn. Speeches were offered, with a musical selection and words of encouragement leading to the presentation of certificates and awards.
Remarks from Director Neletha Butterfield, a vote of thanks, and a closing prayer brought the graduation event to a close.
The learning centre was founded by Ms. Butterfield in 1983, with this year marking 32 years of educating the community. She continues to be actively involved with the day to day running and GED instruction at the learning centre.
