Court: 22-Year-Old Man Sentenced To 9 Months

Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Nov 19], a 22-year-old man was sentenced to nine months in prison after pleading guilty to entering a home and stealing a number of items.

Stevon Swan-Richardson pleaded guilty to entering a Warwick residence in September and stealing watches, an iPad, iPod, liquor, and a knapsack and $50 in cash from a piggy bank. The total value of the items was over $2000.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Archie Warner that the homeowner returned home from work that afternoon and found that her residence had been ransacked. She called police and police found fingerprints on the piggybank and other places.

Police arrested Swan-Richardson on another matter and confirmed that Swan-Richardson was the culprit in this burglary. A search of Swan-Richardson’s residence turned up some of the items. All the items that were recovered were identified by the homeowner.

Asked if had anything to say in Court today, Swan-Richardson remained silent.

Noting that he was wearing an outfit provide by the Westgate Correctional Facility, the Magistrate was told that Swan-Richardson was currently serving a four month prison sentence for a dishonesty offence.

The Magistrate then handed down a nine month prison sentence.
