CPC Launches Association Of Family Mediators
The Coalition for the Protection of Children has officially launched the Bermuda Association of Family Mediators, which they said will “provide an opportunity for professionals in the field to ensure that high standards are developed and maintained.”
The Coalition said, “We are very pleased that the Family Law reform sub-committee headed up by Justice Norma Wade Miller has taken the initiative to spearhead the training of what we hope will be increased numbers of qualified family mediators in Bermuda.
“At the Center for Community and Family Mediation we have been providing court referred Family Mediation for more than 10 years, but with the new legislation promoting the use of Family Mediation there will be an increased demand for that service which we wouldn’t be able to meet by ourselves.
“We have chosen this opportunity to officially launch the Bermuda Association of Family Mediators which will provide an opportunity for professionals in the field to ensure that high standards are developed and maintained.
“We also have created a category of membership we have called ‘adjunct members’ for those who are on their way to becoming certified and who would like to have access to our large resource library of books and audio visual aids as well as opportunities to practice and be part of experiential learning through co- mediation.
“The Center for Community and Family Mediation is a division of the Coalition for the Protection of Children. We established the Center in 1992 and we provide family mediation primarily because it reduces considerably the negative impact that divorce, separation or parental disputes can have upon children.
