“Harlem Meets Bermuda” Dinner At Marcus’
Hamilton Princess today [Jan 7] announced that Marcus Samuelsson will team up with famed Harlem Chef Melba Wilson to host a Harlem Meets Bermuda dinner at Marcus’ on Friday, January 22.
The four-course dinner menu is inspired by Harlem cuisine. It includes a selection of bread and biscuits with an amuse bouche of Tandoori Smoked Salmon Deviled Egg, Mustard Seed and Trout Roe. The first course is a choice between Fish Chowder Bite with Rum Aioli or Melba’s Fried Chicken with Dunkley’s Eggnog Waffle.
The second course offers an option of JH’s Chicken Stew & Dumplings with All Day Beans or Fire Grilled Wahoo, Bermuda Lobster and Harlem Chowder, with Charred Citrus. Dessert is Sweet Potato Pie with Mexican Cinnamon whip.
To set an authentic atmosphere, The Nate Lucas All-Stars, a Harlem-based band that plays at Red Rooster in Harlem, will perform during dinner. The Nate Lucas All-Stars specialise in jazz classics and blues favourites.
“After opening Marcus’ last year, I continue to fall in love with Bermuda,” said Marcus Samuelsson.
“Since Harlem is my home, I wanted to bring a taste of Harlem to Marcus’ in Bermuda. The Nate Lucas All-Stars play at Red Rooster in Harlem and what better way to bring Harlem to Bermuda than with great food and music. Chef Melba is a force in the Harlem cooking world and I am thrilled to host this dinner with her.”
Following dinner on Friday, Melba is hosting brunch at Marcus’ on Sunday, January 24.
“Marcus tells me stories about the people he’s met in Bermuda and their passion for food and enjoying a good meal with friends and family. What I love most about cooking is the opportunity to make people happy and bring people together,” said Melba Wilson, Chef Owner of Melba’s Restaurant in Harlem.
“I was born and raised in Harlem but have family roots in South Carolina, so my cooking style is Southern Comfort. It’s a cuisine that brings people together and makes people happy, and I am so excited to host a dinner with my friend Marcus in Bermuda.”
The four-course dinner is $85, plus gratuities. Tickets can be purchased here. There are no tickets for the brunch, but reservations are highly recommended and can be made by phone at 298-2028 or by email at ham.diningreservations@fairmont.com.
