Allied World Family Community Day On May 15

April 21, 2016

The Centre on Philanthropy announced that the 5th Annual Allied World Family Community Day will take place on Sunday, May 15th at Victoria Park in Hamilton, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

“This is a free event and does not require registration,” a spokesperson said. “This is a great opportunity for families to spend quality time together while making a difference in our community.

“Families experience first-hand, the joy of volunteering for local charities in an afternoon of fun, food, games, entertainment and prizes all while connecting with the important work Bermuda’s non-profits are doing in our community. Children learn compassion and community awareness and together build the foundation for volunteerism through the next generation.

“Attending charities will present project and information booths where families can learn about their causes and volunteer opportunities and even complete a volunteer project on-site.

“There will be fun castles, face painting, children’s games as well as line dancing with Bermuda Latin Vibes and performances by Jump2BFit and Gombey Warriors! The lovely Nikita Robinson will return to MC.

“This year, Bermuda’s outstanding Youth Volunteers will be recognized at the event, so we encourage all students to come out and support their peers. Students can earn up to two community service hours by attending and participating in nonprofit projects and information booths.

Elaine Butterfield, Executive Director of The Centre on Philanthropy says “Our joint goal is to offer an event that makes volunteerism appealing and fun for the whole family, while providing children with the opportunity to become agents of change in their community, and thoughtfully contribute to causes they care about.

“Students can earn up to two community service hours by participating. The Centre on Philanthropy is pleased to partner with title sponsor Allied World once again this year.

“Because of their generous support, this fun-filled community event is free to attend for people of all ages. We hope families across the island will join us to discover the joy of giving back to our community.”
