Gilbert & Sullivan To Hold Auditions For Musical
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society will be producing The Magic of the Musicals between Thursday October 6 and Saturday October 15 at The Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall, and will be hosting auditions for the event next month.
The Magic of the Musicals brings together a selection of some of the finest and best loved songs from the West End and Broadway stage, highlighting both history and future of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society.
In addition to songs from past hit Gilbert & Sullivan Society productions, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Dreamgirls, Fiddler on the Roof and Chicago, the show will feature a Rodgers and Hammerstein Medley, a G&S medley and a Sondheim section with tunes from hits like Company, Into The Woods, A Little Night Music.
The production will also give the audience a preview of some possible future shows, including Broadway hits Mamma Mia, Matilda, Miss Saigon, The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera.
John Barnett, president of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s executive committee, said: “For more than 40 years, G&S has brought a wide range of hit musicals to the stage in Bermuda.
“This year, we wanted to showcase not only some of our most memorable past productions, but give the audience a sneak peak of what’s to come, all while highlighting some of the best local talent.”
In addition to the adult cast, the producers will be looking for talented young people [over the age of 8] to bring to life songs from shows including Annie and Oliver.
Auditions for this fun filled show will be Friday May 27 to Sunday May 29. Please contact Deborah Smith-Joell at 735-1547 for audition date and times.
