Bermuda Athletes Head To Summer Competition

A number of Bermuda athletes will be heading overseas for international meets during the summer, including Shaquille Dill, Dage Minors, Kyle Webb, Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Bruce Degrilla, and Lamont Marshall.

BNAA President Donna Raynor said, “We have several of our athletes who will be going off to international meets an attempt to reach the qualifying standard for Rio Olympics or to get in their last competition before the NACAC U23 and World Junior Championships.

“The final day for qualification of Rio is July 11th. As per normal we have a very busy summer ahead of us.

“Shaquille Dill has three meets lined up in his quest to reach the standards in the 800m. We have every confidence that Shaquille can run 1:46 and even quicker. June 18th Princeton Qualifier in New Jersey; June 22nd Aileen Meagher International Track Classic – Halifax, Nova Scotia; and July 10th – Blue Marlin Last Chance Meet – Nassau, Bahamas.

“Dage Minors has two meets lined up in preparation for the NACAC U23 Championships which will be held in El Salvador July 15th – 17th and he will be competing in the 800m and 1500m. June 18th Princeton qualifier in New Jersey; and July 10th – Blue Marln Last Chance meet – Nassau, Bahamas

“Kyle Webb has one meet lined up in preparation for the NACAC U23 Championships where he will be competing in the 200m and 400m. July 10th – Blue Marlin Last Chance Meet in Nassau, Bahamas.

“Bruce Degrilla has one meet lined up in preparation for the NACAC U23 Championships where he will be competing in the Long Jump.

“Jah-Nhai Perinchief has one meet lined up before the World Junior Championships with his last quest to reach the RIo Olympic standard. I am sure Jah-Nhai will come up against some of the top high jumpers in the world at this meet.

“Then he will be off to the World Junior Championships in Poland July 19th – 24th. July 10th – Blue Marlin Last Chance Meet at Nassau, Bahamas.

“Lamont Marshall has three meets lined up in his quest to reach the standards in the 3000m steeplechase. June 18 – Princeton Qualifier New Jersey USA; June 25 – EAP Meeting Bilbao, Spain; and July 9 – British Milers Club Grand Prix Solihull, England.”
