West Teams Win Both Futsal All-Star Matches
Futsal players in Bermuda competed in the men’s and women’s all-star games this weekend, with the West teams winning both of the matches.
A spokesperson said, “In the Women’s All-Star Game, both teams were very cautious in the opening eight minutes, with no goals being scored. However, the East, behind the unstoppable Shuntae Todd [with 4 goals], jumped out to a convincing 5 to 1 lead by the end of the first half.
“Just when it looked like the East would run away with the game, the West, behind the powerful goal scoring machine Aaliyah Nolan,staged an incredible comeback to score 8 goals versus the East’s 1 goal to win the fifth Annual Women’s All-Star Game 9 to 6. Aaliyah Nolan captured the All-Star MVP award with her 6 goals.

“In the Men’s All-Star Game, the West jumped out to an early lead in the first half, but the East came back to make it a very close game and at half-time the West led by a slim 5 to 4 margin. Both goal keepers were kept busy in the second half with some incredible goals scored by both teams.
“However the night’s best goal was scored by the West’s Jorge Sanchez who scored directly in the air from a pass from his goal keeper Dashun Cooper, flicking the ball past the East’s goal keeper Nigel Burgess. The West increased their lead in the second half, scoring 4 goals to the East’s 1 to win the first Annual Men’s All-Star Game 9 to 5.
“The West’s defender Matari Tannock won the All-Star MVP award with a sterling display of defence as well as scoring the second best goal of the evening lobbing the ball over the East’s goal keeper from deep in his own half.

“In addition, the end of season’s Men’s league awards were presented and the recipients were as follows:
