July 31, 2016

News that the island celebrated the annual Cup Match holiday with a variety of activities, the Bermuda Men’s U17 World Cup team returned home after winning Group 3 at the Caribbean Football Union Under-17 World Cup Qualifiers, and the Bermuda International Long Term Insurers & Reinsurers awarded $30,000 in scholarships to Bermudian Imani Smith were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included Bermuda’s Alyssa Rowse and Kaden Hopkins winning gold medals at the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships in St Lucia, the publishing of a new book that features the work of two Bermudians, the island being highlighted in a 20-page feature in the UK’s Times, and the BFIS Alumni Association’s ‘Denim Day’ raising $9,500 towards its $10,000 scholarship, which was awarded to Zoe Wright.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the 2016 Cup Match Classic and both Cup Match Summer Splash concerts, and a visit from the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Hudson.
