Burglaries Reported At St. George’s Churches

Two burglaries were reported at east end churches this weekend, with cash stolen from St. Peter’s Church, while a suggestion box was damaged at Wellington Baptist Church.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:20am on Saturday, October 22nd police received a report of a burglary at St. Peter’s Church in St. George’s where a quantity of cash taken.

“Around 11am on Saturday, October 22nd police received a report of a burglary at Wellington Baptist Church in St. George’s where a suggestion box was damaged. However, it appears nothing was taken.

“Inquiries regarding both incidents continue and persons with information or who may have seen suspicious activity around either church sometime between 3pm Friday and 9am Saturday should contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.”
