Bermuda Quilters’ Guild To Hold Show On Oct 27
The Bermuda Quilters’ Guild will be holding a show of members’ work on Friday October 27 from 11am to 6pm and Saturday October 28 from 10am to 5pm at the St. Mary’s Church Hall in Warwick. Along with the show of quilts and quilted items there will be quilting demonstrations and items for sale.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Quilters’ Guild was formed in 1992. There are currently 30 active members including four of the original founding members. Meetings are held twice a month at the church hall; on the first Tuesday from noon to 3:30pm and the third Thursday from 7pm to 9pm. Newcomers and interested people are always welcome to join the meetings.
“Members also enjoy a once a month Saturday stitching day from 10am to 4pm. During these get-togethers members bring current projects to work on. The more experienced quilters will assist and mentor those who are new to the craft.
“Over its 25 year history the Guild has held a show of work approximately every 2 to 3 years. The guild has made and raffled many quilts with the proceeds going to local charities.
“Members have also made quilts and Christmas stockings for the Star Foundation, lap quilts for seniors and quilts for children in Sri Lanka after the tsunami disaster among other community projects.
“The Guild would like to invite everyone to attend the show. Entrance is $5 [children under 12 are free]. For further information please contact; bermudaqiltersguild@hotmail.com or message our Facebook page “Bermuda Quilter’s Guild”.
