Knight Finishes Top Of WICUA Umpire Class
Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] President Lloyd Fray, congratulated Bermuda Cricket Umpire Association [BCUA] umpire Alex Knight on not only passing the West Indies Cricket Umpire Association Practical [WICUA] and Oral examinations, but topping the class with the highest mark achieved of 97.5%.
Knight beat 34 other candidates in the recent examinations.
Mr Fray said, “I am delighted, but not surprised, to learn that Knight has scored so highly in the recent WICUA exams. Knight has been officiating locally, and abroad, at a very high level and is well respected in our cricket community.
“I also recognize the efforts of Roger Dill, the BCUA training officer, who tirelessly continues to develop umpires locally at all levels. Knight was one of 4 umpires recently selected to officiate in Argentina where our BCUA umpires continued to demonstrate their leadership in umpiring in the region. Congratulations Knight and well done – I hope this will inspire more people to enjoy our great sport from the outstanding viewpoint of being an umpire.”
The BCUA stated, “Knight’s success is a clear demonstration that we have a very competitive umpiring training product in Bermuda and the only challenge separating our officials from even greater results is more opportunities. We wish to congratulate Knight on his remarkable results and urge him to continue to develop his craft.”
