Bermuda Junior Sailors Finish Strong In Florida

The 2017 Junior Orange Bowl Sailing Regatta concluded in Florida, with Bermuda sailors back in action again.

In the Laser Fleet, Benn Smith finished the in 4th, with 47 Net Points. Smith recorded back to back wins in the first two races of the day before finishing 4th in the final race.

Matthew Arruda finished on the podium in the Optimist Green Fleet after finishing in 3rd place with 85 Net Points, Ava Rosser ended in the 8th place spot with 97 Net Points.

In 9th place was Trey Whaley who had 98 points, while Sarah Davis ended in 13th with 146 points, Isaac Wickramge finished in the 20th spot with 191 points.

Sam Redburn ended in 39th with 333 points, while William Backstone finished in 40th with 343 points and Ciara Wells finished in 56th with 488 points.

Sabastian Kempe finished in 21st in the 263 Sailors Optimist Blue Fleet with 174 points, while Magnus Ringsted ended in 43rd with 240 points, Laura Hupman concluded in 127th with 364 points, while Rachael Betschart finished in the 147th spot with 409 points.

Nicole Stovell finished in 187th, with Amelia Lewis in 193rd, Jack Roberts is in 205th, while Ben Redburn ended in the 212th position and Gabrielle Brackstone finished in 218th.

    Well done. We are an itty bitty town of some 60,000. Of that number how many households are interested in sailing? To do so well from such a small base is extremely good up against places like the US which have a huge talent pool to draw from.
