Photos: Singleton Carries Olympic Torch In Korea

Three time Bermudian Olympian and IOC Athlete Commission member Patrick Singleton was honoured with the task of carrying the 2018 Winter Olympic torch as the Games get set to open in PyeongChang, South Korea tomorrow [Feb 9].

While he is now attending in an official capacity, Singleton has competed in the Winter Olympics three times. He finished 27th in the Men’s Single Luge during the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, and 37th in the same event in 2002 in Utah, USA. In his final Olympics in 2006 in Torino, Italy, Singleton finished 19th in the Men’s Skeleton.

The island will again be represented in this year’s Winter Olympics, marking the 8th consecutive appearance by Bermuda in the Games.

Bermudian cross-country skier Tucker Murphy will compete in the Men’s 15K Free Individual Start cross-country ski event, which will be his third Olympic appearance.
