75-Year-Old Pedestrian In Stable Condition

[Updated] A 75-year-old male pedestrian is in stable condition in the hospital after he was “struck by a 22-year-old male motorcyclist” on Harrington Sound Road yesterday [Feb 28].

A police spokesperson said, “Around 4:20pm Wednesday, February 28th police and first responders attended a reported collision on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Harrington Hundreds Road.

“It appears that a 75-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross Harrington Sound Road when he was struck by a 22-year-old male motorcyclist.

“The pedestrian – believed to be a Smith’s parish resident – was injured and cared for at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further treatment. At last check this morning [March 1st] he was said to be recovering in stable condition.

“The motorcyclist involved was also hurt, but apparently his injuries did not require hospital treatment. However, the motorcycle was damaged. Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update March 2, 11.50am: A police spokesperson said, “At last check this morning [March 2nd] the 75 year old male pedestrian struck and injured by a 22 year old male motorcyclist around 4:20pm Wednesday, February 28thon Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Harrington Hundreds Road continued to recover in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are still asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
