Photos & Videos: Student Employment Fair
The Department of Education and the Department of Workforce Development today hosted the first Student Employment Fair for graduating senior students from the Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy.
More than 30 students, set up booths and poster displays that showcased their career interest, achievement and awards, extracurricular activities and interesting facts about themselves. Employers then made the rounds speaking with the students and sharing job opportunities.
Minister Diallo Rabain’s opening remarks
The Minister of Education and Workforce Development Diallo Rabain opened the Fair and congratulated the students for their presentations and thanked the employers for their support.
Minister Rabain stated: “This is an important event for our senior students, who are busy preparing for graduation and what lies next. This year more than 200 students are set to graduate, and many will remain on-island ─ attending Bermuda College, working or taking additional training and certification courses.
“The decisions that await our students can be daunting, but with our help and support from employers, we can offer these students a career pathway that will help them once they leave the safety net of school.

“Our Government is committed to collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that Bermudians are properly prepared to take advantage of both current and future job opportunities.
“We want to clear pathways and remove any barriers so that our students can enter the workplace prepared and ready to for further advancement.
“Today’s event is a shining example of the collaboration required between employers, schools and both Government Departments. It’s the first step, but this will certainly benefit our students and community and has the potential to become an annual event.”
