Court: Driver Disqualified & Fined After Collision
A drink driver who failed to stop after an accident has been banned from the roads for 18 months.
Gregory Cann was over the limit when he got behind the wheel on March 2 and collided with another vehicle on Camp Road in Southampton.
He drove away from the scene was was later arrested by police at his Southampton property.
Cann initially told officers that he had not thought the damage to the vehicles had been significant and neither party had remained at the scene.
The 60-year-old also confirmed that he had been drinking earlier in the day.
He was taken to Hamilton Police Station and found to be over the drink drive limit.
At Magistrates’ Court this morning Cann admitted failing to stop after an accident and driving when then level of alcohol in his system was above the prescribed limit.
He was fined a total of $1,350 and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
