Go-Karting Extravaganza & Musical Festival

September 23, 2018

A Go-Karting Extravaganza and Musical Festival will be held on Saturday, October 13th in the area surrounding Dr. EF Gordon Square in Hamilton.

A spokesperson said, “One of the Island’s top legal advocates will join outstanding sports figures and the man tasked with facilitating peace in the neighborhoods in a community event designed to bring families together.

“Noted lawyer, Mark Pettingill will be one of the Celebrity Go-Kart drivers lining up for the October, 13th Go-Karting extravaganza and Musical Festival slated for the area surrounding Dr. EF Gordon Square in Hamilton.

“The event, previously scheduled for the Labour Day Holiday, will feature some of the island’s top Go-Kart drivers, including Scott Barnes, in the main race schedule, but surely to grab the attention of those attending will be the celebrity line-up which already includes, record setting former Cup Match players Janeiro Tucker and Charlie Marshall, as well as popular Lindo’s manager Zach Moniz.”

Spokesman for the organization behind the event, Rick Richardson, says the project team includes community activists Gina Spence and Dennis Bean, along with Wendell Daniels, Mitchell ‘Live’ Wires Trott, with input from area resident and Corporation member Roseann Edwards.

Mr Richardson notes that the original idea had the backing of the Bermuda Industrial Union and President Chris Furbert and the support of Mayor Charles Gosling and the City Board which pledged material support also.

This, he says, will serve as a dry run for next year and promises bigger things to come.

Steps will now be taken to include more of the area businesses to ensure full participation, and the group has set about notifying all residents in the central Pembroke area to inform them of the October event.

A spokesperson added, “The October, 13th event will start with a peace drive led by Pastor Leroy Bean and other noted clergy. Outside of the celebrity races, there will be a display of young talent as drummers under the direction of Mr. Dennis Parsons, and others will perform.

“The Family event is scheduled to start at 4pm on October, 13th, with the full schedule to be released at a later date.”

Is this the same classes of racing karts that we saw on Front St and in Dockyard with the gokarts that used to race at Southside? Do they still race? Cause I just checked their website to learn more about this event and they don’t seem to have any news and updates to website since March 2017?

Where can we learn more? Are all the different classes racing? Or is this primarily a community event that happens to also have a local celebrity race included?
