20 years after a warrant was issued for his arrest, a man appeared in court this week.

The man, who is in his 60s, was initially charged with a speeding offence.

He told the court, “I was taken by surprise by this [his arrest]. Last night as I was sitting in my cell it came back to me.”

The man told Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe he thought he was driving to work and was stopped on Kindley Field Road.

The Crown offered no evidence in the matter, and the man walked free. He thanked the court and joked “I got a free night [in a cell] downstairs.”
