Castle Masters Staff Become SCARS Certified
Family-owned, fun castle rental business Castle Masters has taken steps to have their staff and volunteers have become certified by child sexual abuse prevention charity SCARS, saying as they are hired at some events to monitor the fun castles while the children play, they “felt it imperative to be SCARS certified to make sure the children in our care are kept safe at all times.”
Castle Masters Owners, Talia and Rohaan Simons, said: “We decided to take this training as we are a youth-serving business and felt it would educate us on playing a role to prevent child sexual abuse.
“We not only deliver fun castles Island-wide, we are also hired at some events to monitor the fun castles while the children play, so we felt it imperative to be SCARS certified to make sure the children in our care are kept safe at all times.”
Thanks to the three hour training on Wednesday, November 28, the Castle Masters team members are better able to identify the signs of child abuse and understand how to take swift and appropriate action to help those in their care.
Mrs Simons said: “My husband and I did the training and invited a group of family and friends to attend with us. While we don’t have any full-time employees, as a small family business we do get a lot of support from our loved ones whom often volunteer their time to assist whenever they can, so we thought it was important to invite them to join us.”
“We were blessed to have a good turnout, with a total of 13 people attending the SCARS training last week. This not only benefits Castle Masters, but also them as parents. The community will also benefit by having more people aware of the issues and signs so we can do our absolute best to keep our children in the community safe.”
Debi Ray-Rivers, Founder and Executive Director of SCARS, recently announced the non-profit had now trained over 8,000 adults in child sexual abuse prevention, including various local businesses and community organisations. She said: “Congratulations to Castle Masters for your support and commitment to educating your team in child sexual abuse prevention!”.
