Minister Helps Paint Wall Covered With Graffiti

December 21, 2018

Minister of National Security Wayne Caines and Gang Violence Reduction Coordinator Pastor Leroy Bean attended the area of North Terrace in Pembroke Parish this morning [Dec 21], where “gang graffiti” had been painted on an area resident’s wall.

Minister Caines said, “The neighbours were very upset. We could not stand by and allow the graffiti to stand over the Christmas holiday; so we borrowed clothes from a neighbour and painted the wall.

“I thank Rowe Spurling Paint Company for donating the paint, and Mrs. Shirlene Bascome, Pastor Leroy Bean, and MP Michael Weeks for all their help and assistance.

“The Police Community Action Team have been engaged and will be in the neighborhood this afternoon.

“I ask the persons responsible and remind all of Bermuda to participate in positive activities and work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for all.”

  1. puzzled says:

The irony in all this is why the people of the neighborhood did not do it themselves.

They sure as hell don’t come from elsewhere to do this and not be known.

Time to deal with your own backyard or move to England

  2. Nice says:

    Good work, some ground action.

  3. Toodle-oo says:

It’ll be back in no time . You can bet your boots on it .
And a big thank you to Rowe for donating the paint.

    • Pork & Bean says:

Yes, what they need to do is make the individuals responsible for the graffiti paint the walls themselves with a toothbrush. Lets not pretend we don’t know who it is, they leave their tag lines, gang symbols, names and so on.

You know who these people are, if you don’t then your “gang programs” are failing. You cant have it both ways.

Start punishing the criminals and make examples of them instead of asking for free paint donations and cleaning up their mess. Spare the rod………………you know the ending.

  4. Justasuggestion says:

Is that not what W+E do. Pure publicity stunt. Do your real job

    • Pork & Bean says:

That is not true. If it was a publicity stunt they would have used some type of subliminal advertising or brainwashing method like using a tag line, image or color associated with that political party. Oh wait, my bad, they did paint the wall PLP Green.

    • VJ says:

      They don’t do private property.

  5. Thank you, Minister Caines. Your terrific work does not go unnoticed. Wishing you great health as you and the P.L.P. press forward for a productive 2019!!
    Can’t wait!!

  6. Triangle Drifter says:

Nice clean canvas now. Maybe neighbourhood kids should be given a chance to display their talents. Every home owner has leftover paint that they should be happy to donate.

  7. wahoo says:

    Very good gesture!

  8. PBanks says:

There was some graffiti written on that wall a few days ago on Palmetto Road by the overpass, wonder if someone’s addressed that

  9. eyes wide open says:

    NOT impressed!

  10. Question says:

Maybe he could have painted the colour of his favorite kind of milk.

  11. Triangle Drifter says:

My painting clothes don’t look like that.

  12. Time Shall Tell says:

Some of you must live sad lives. Positive news yet all you can do is dig deep to find a way to be negative. Grow up.

    • Question says:

With that guy you don’t have to dig deep.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

I’ll ask Santa to drop off a sense of humour to you for Christmas.

You don’t believe that these two politicians really painted that whole wall, as easy a job as it is, do you? They show up in dress shoes & nice clothing to paint?

Lets have a picture of those who really painted the wall & thank them.

  13. Me says:

Christmas PR stunt blitz well planned

    • Rockfish#1and#2 says:

Caines needs to rehire Brand Lion to change his image….this effort is pathetic.

  14. Whistling Frog says:

Go ahead Minister Caines, Great job. I wish all of government ministers, managers and supervisors will be hands on in 2019 and spend more time picking up the phone and answer.

  15. Oh,I see now says:

The wall was covered and the area residents are now happy for Christmas.Does it really matter who or how it got done for those greatful residents. The next time a person does a good deed for someone in your family are you gonna ask what’s up or give a a plain old thank you.

  16. Louden Cleere says:

Pastor Bean finally earning his paycheck? Why didn’t he save paint and just pray the graffiti away?

Oh, and nice try Dishonourable Minister of Titty Milk.
