Carifta Swimmers Carry 29 Medals Into Last Day
Bermuda swimmers continue to shine at the 2019 Carifta Swimming Championships going on in Barbados. At the conclusion of the first day of competition, Bermuda swimmers had secured eight medals.
The second day of competition saw the team increase their medal count to 18 after picking up 10 more medals. Day three saw Bermuda swimmers win 11 more medals. The Bermuda Carifta swimming team have a total of 29 medals as they go into their fourth and last day of competition today [April 23].
On the second day of competition Elan Daley picked up the gold medal in the 13-14 Girls 200 Meter Freestyle and in doing so she set a new Bermuda Record as well as a New Carifta Record time of 2.06:13, smashing the time she had produced earlier in the day.
Sam Williamson won the silver medal competing in the Boys 13-14 400 Meter IM with a time of 1:07.57 and later captured another silver in the 13-14 Boys 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:01.81.
Logan Watson-Brown won the Girls 15-17 200 Meter Freestyle gold medal with a time of 2:07.86. It was also gold for Giada Dudley-Pun in the 11-12 Girls 400 Meter IM touching the wall in a time of 5:38.82.
Imojen Judd also captured a bronze medal when she finished third in the Girls 11-12 100 Meter Backstroke. Elan Daley picked up another gold competing in the Girls 13-14 100 Meter Back with a time of 1:07.57 and she captured a bronze medal in the Girls 13-14 50 Meter Butterfly. Elijah Daley won the 11-12 Boys 100 Meter Backstroke bronze medal.
The Bermuda 11-12 Girls 4×100 Meter Medley Relay team of Imojen Judd, Giada Dudley-Pun, Pippa Charleson and Bella Howes won the silver medal.
The Bermuda Carifta swimming team won 2 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals on the third day of competition.
Thirteen year old Elan Daley won gold in the Girls 13-14 200 Meter IM with a time of 2:25.26. Her brother Elijah Daley won gold in the Boys 11-12 200 Meter Fly with a time of 2:27.13. Elijah also won a silver medal in the Boys 11-12 200 Meter IM touching the wall with a time of 2:27.64.
The Mixed 11-12 4×100 Meter Free Relay team of Bella Howes, Brandon Adkins, Giada Dudley-Pun and Elijah Daley won silver with a time of 4:14.27.
Giada Dudley-Pun won the silver in the Girls 11-12 200 Meter IM with a time of 2:37.52, while Imojen Judd would take bronze in the same race with a time of 2:41.34.
Sam Williamson won silver in the Boys 13-14 200 Meter IM with a time of 2:17.16, and the Boys 13-14 50 Meter Breast with a time of 31.52. He would then secure bronze in the Boys 13-14 100 Meter Free with a time of 55.74.
Very familiar with the podium, Elan Daley won silver in the Girls 13-14 100 Meter Free with a time of 58.00. Emma Kittleson, Josphine Duerden, Elan Daley and Taylor White teamed up to win bronze in the Girls 13-14 4×200 Meter Free Relay with a time of 9:16.71.
The 2019 Bermuda Carifta Swimming Championships Team includes Pippa Charleson, Caitlin Coleman, Elan Daley, Daria Desmond, Giada Dudley-Pun, Josphine Duerden, Bella Howes, Imojen Judd, Emma Kittleson, Gabriela Pitman, Skyler Powell, Logan Watson-Brown, Taylor White, Brandon Adkins, Elijah Daley, Brian Desmond, Jack Harvey, Caleb Ingham, Rhys Insley, Finn Moseley, Brett Smith, Zebedee Wakely and Sam Williamson.
