Um Does the car have a license plate?
Wouldn’t that be a likely place to start?
Check with TCD to see who the car belongs to
Even without a plate, the VIN or engine number would link to some sort of registry.
I know that the driver and the owner can be two different people, but surely checking who the vehicle is registered to is an obvious place to start – hey maybe the owner already reported the car “missing” lol
I guess we won’t know because that information is not in this article.
I know that everyone’s intentions regarding license ID are pure common sense but let me share a story .
Not too long ago after many frustrating years of watching his fruit get stolen from his roadside orchard a local man finally caught someone in the act. As he was pulling out to leave on his scooter with a 100lb sack full of citrus the local accosted the man. Fruit went rolling all over the road but the crook still had the determination to make off with as much of his booty as he could.
The local got the license number of the bike and made a full report with the police.
One would think that it would be a simple case of them tracking the address and having the local doing an ID , right ?
Nope ! The police claimed that they were unable to do anything at all because the bike was ‘unlicensed’ .
True story.
You’d think!!
Why the police always gives us limited information? Post the licence plate number you would find out all that happened that night!!
Install AI survalince cameras
I guess they hadn’t left Rangers.
What did they hit?
A tree, minor damage to the tree, major damage to the front end of the SUV.
I passed this must have been just before midnight, must have just happened before i saw it. There were two vehicles there when i drove past a gray van going west I believe and this one in the picture. Assumed the guy in the van was helping the driver…..maybe this helps
Can’t get over how some people underrate the Police. I am sure the police have already tracked down ownership of the car (probably within a few minutes of arriving at the scene) without the suggestions of the posters here. Obviously the actual driver of the car is the unknown here, not the owner.
Please give the police some credit.
Why? Do they give us credit? Ever had to deal with a cop? Report a crime? They treat u like u r the perpetrator. Just sayin
And that is why the law assists with presumptions that the legal owner was the driver. The owner can easily identify who the authorised driver was if not her. Or if not authorised would have reported the vehicle missing. Obvious attempt to evade DUI. quick tracing and you can blood test etc.
No credit deserved from me, once had a bike take off from swizzle South Shore and crash into the back of my car as I slowed to turn into the car park. Gave police the license number and make of bike, they told me they probably won’t find who it is and wrote Middle road on the accident report, true story, still have the report.
Why is it important who the owner or driver is anyway? If I hit my bike and leave it on the roadside no one would care.
Exactly, I’m trying to figure out what difference it makes. If someone hits their car and leaves it on the side of the road why does it matter??? No major damage was caused to any property.
Keystone cops at their best
They worry about a car that is on the side of the road versus child molesters walking our streets! They worry about gay pride parades versus getting gang bangers out of our clubs and off the streets! They incarcerate our youth for herb possession when others run free selling cocaine and ecstasy! Really makes no sense at all!
