Tiara DeRosa Breaks Bermuda Shot Put Record
The Bermuda National Track and Field Championships is underway, with the first day seeing Tiara DeRosa make an impressive showing to shatter the Bermuda shot put record. which had stood for over 30 years.
DeRosa’s toss of 13.89 broke the previous record held by Sonya Smith which had stood for 34 years, with BNAA President Donna Raynor confirming that a new record was set.
In other action, Za’kayza Parsons won the Under 17 Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.38, Massassi Maxwell-Smith was second in 13.65.
The Men’s 100 Meter Dash Open saw Kyle Webb clock a winning time of 10.95, Stephan Dill was second in 11.05 and Kidane Callendar finished third stopping the clock in a time of 11.58.
The Bermuda Pacers Track Club team of Nirobi Smith-Mills, Sancho Smith, Johndell Cumberbatch and Kahzi Sealey set a new Bermuda Record on their way to winning the Under 17 Men’s 4×800 Meter Relay with a time of 8:12.43, Team AAU finished second clocking 8:44.42.
Grant Rivers won the Men’s Javelin Throw Open with a top toss of 51.51m or 169 feet.
