A Southampton parish man was remanded into custody after pleading not guilty to a sexual assault that is alleged to have occurred during an armed robbery at Blue Hole Park on June 16.

The 42-year-old man — who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons — did plead guilty to using force to take the woman’s wallet.

However, he denied sexually assaulting the woman and also denied unlawfully assaulting her 13-year-old son whom police previously said  intervened on behalf of his mother but “was punched by the man.” Both of those offences allegedly occurred on June 16.

The mother and son had been exploring Blue Hole Park when police say the man came through the trees and allegedly brandished a knife.

His next court date is scheduled for August 2019.
