17-Year-Old Male In ICU After Marine Incident
The 17-year-old male who was seriously injured in a jet ski incident yesterday is listed in “critical but stable condition in the hospital’s ICU,” the police have confirmed.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 6pm Tuesday, August 6th police officers and ambulance personnel responded to a reported marine incident in the Robinson’s Marina, Somerset Bridge area.
“It appears that a 17-year-old local male on a Jet Ski struck the stern anchor of a moored yacht.
“Apparently the injured teen was rescued and brought ashore by the yacht’s captain before being transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check earlier today [August 7th] he was listed in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
“The Jet Ski involved was damaged. However, there was no reported damage to the yacht.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to call Constable Joshua Boden at the Marine Unit on 247-1770 at the earliest opportunity.”
