KATKiDS Night Market Set For This Weekend
The annual KATKiDS Night Market is set to be held on Friday [Nov 22] at Upper Pier 6 on Front Street in Hamilton, with a bonus shopping day on Saturday [Nov 23], with the event to raise funds for children in need in Bermuda, Nepal, and Africa.
A spokesperson said, “Supporters can enjoy a festive evening at KATKiDS’ popular annual Night Market on Friday November 22 at Upper Pier 6, Front Street Hamilton organised by KATKiDS to raise funds for children in need in Bermuda, Nepal and Africa.
“With expanded hours opening early from 4 until 9 p.m. on Friday; an extra bonus shopping day on Saturday November 23 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and a kid’s corner staffed to entertain children while their parents shop, KATKiDS aims this year to make getting a head start on holiday shopping easier.”
KATKiDS Chair Jennie Lee O’Donnell and Gentle Rain Nepal charity founder Tracy Tepper search for brass items in Kathmandu, Nepal:
KATKiDS Chair Jennie Lee O’Donnell said, “You absolutely should not miss the exotic atmosphere of the KATKiDS Night Market with happy hour drink and food prices all evening.
“On Friday night, the low $10 entrance price is 100% earmarked for The Eliza Dolittle Society to feed the hungry in Bermuda, many of whom are children.
“You can pop by for Saturday shopping as well without an entrance fee, but be warned that great items go early.”
KATKiDS Chair Jennie Lee O’Donnell sources the KATKiDS Night Market’s selection of scarves direct from Kathmandu, Nepal:
Ms. O’Donnell said, “With new, never before featured products sourced directly from Africa and Nepal, more than ever the market gives people a unique opportunity to find beautiful and unusual gifts for the upcoming holiday season. It is even better that you know that 100% of the profits and donations from the event go directly to support children in need here in Bermuda as well as Nepal and Africa.”
The spokesperson said, “KATKiDS, Bermuda’s homegrown international charity is 100% volunteer run which means that after paying for the items on sale and banking fees, every penny raised from the Market is put to work for children in need of food, shelter, healthcare or education.”
“KATKiDS’ Night Market will feature the exotic sights, sounds and smells of Nepal and Africa through a variety of themed market stalls including Nepali and African arts, crafts, beautiful beaded and silver jewelry, baskets and brass items and art work. Volunteers travel at their own cost to purchase the products which are not available elsewhere in Bermuda as well as to visit the projects that the charity funds in Nepal and Uganda.
“This year, KATKiDS has sought to expand their selection to include more gift ideas for men as well as women and children. A silent auction will also be held on Friday evening from 4-7:30 p.m. Tickets for Friday’s market can be bought online in advance via bdatix.bm or purchased at the door from 4 p.m. with cash or card. Saturday’s shopping day will not require an entrance fee. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for all purchases.”
What? I have a retail store in Hamilton and these people get to bring in stuff to sell with no duty and take business away from me? Time to change my vote! As a black small business owner you are killing me PLP!
