MarketPlace Christmas Parade On Sunday

As the island gears up for the Christmas season, the annual MarketPlace Christmas Parade is set to take place in Hamilton on Sunday, December 1st at 5pm, serving to kick-off the holiday season.

For more than 20 years, the MarketPlace has been involved with the annual Christmas parade in the City of Hamilton, with 2019 marking the 10th edition of the parade as the MarketPlace Christmas Parade.

Participants will include the Lions Club of Bermuda, Lotus Ariel Team, Bermuda Long Riders Motorcycle Club, the Association of Filipinos in Bermuda, Blu Kids, Bermuda Police Service Motorcycle Division, Bermuda Fire Service, Bermuda Regiment, St George’s Dancerettes, Dancesations, In Motion School of Dance, Vasco Folklore Dance Group, Rated E, Place’s New Generation Gombeys, plus much more and of course, Santa Claus!

Seth Stutzman, President of The MarketPlace, said: “2019 marks a milestone year for the MarketPlace Christmas Parade and we aim to make it an even more memorable occasion for spectators.

“In addition to our exciting line-up of themed floats, dance groups, kids’ favourite cartoon characters and Santa, a special laser show and giant balloons will make their debuts in the parade to mark the milestone year. This year’s spectacle promises to be an exciting experience, we are beyond thrilled for the public to see.”

The route will be as follows: start at the intersection of Church Street and Par-La-Ville Road, east along Front Street, north on Court Street, west on Church Street and finish at the junction of Church Street and Wesley Street. The public is advised that roads will begin to close from 3.00pm.

The annual Marketplace Christmas Parade will take place in the City of Hamilton on Sunday 1st December 2019, commencing at 5pm from the corner of Par-la-Ville Road and Church Street.

The Parade Route

The route will be as follows: Start at intersection of Church and Par-La-Ville road South on Par-la-Ville Road; east along Front Street, north on Court Street, west on Church Street as far as the junction with Par-la-Ville Road, where the floats will disperse.

No Parking From 06:00am

Parking will be prohibited in No. 5 Car Park (except for the disabled and senior citizens), No.1 Car Park, Par-la-Ville car park and along the above route from 12:00 noon.

No Parking From 12noon

Parking will also be prohibited from 12:00 noon at the following locations:
Front St – between Bermudiana Rd and King St
Par-la-Ville Road – between Front Street and Serpentine Road
Wesley Street – between Church Street and Victoria Street
Victoria Street – between Dismont Drive and Wesley Street
King Street – between Reid St. and Victoria St.

No Parking From 3:00pm

Reid St
Queen St

No Parking From 4:30 p.m.

On Church Street between Burnaby Street and Parliament Street, where parking is prohibited from 4:30 pm.

Church Street – between Par-la-Ville Road and King Street
Gorham Road. – between Bermudiana Road and Woodbourne Avenue

Additional Information:

  • The parade will assemble in Par-la-Ville Car Park and along Par-la-Ville Road between Church Street and Serpentine Road.
  • Traffic will be permitted to travel South And North on King Street, between Reid Street and Victoria Street, after 4.00 p.m. until the parade is over.
  • Persons parking their vehicles on Reid Street before 4:00 p.m. will be permitted to move their cars once the parade has turned onto Court Street but will be diverted south on Queen Street to Front Street. No access from Queen Street to Church Street will be permitted until after all the floats have left the area.
  • Vehicles wishing to drive through the City are advised to travel up Spurling’s Hill rather than along Front Street after 4.00 p.m.
  • Motorists entering the City from the direction of Pitts Bay Road will be diverted up Woodbourne Ave. Church Street will remain open to eastbound traffic between Par-la-Ville Road and Parliament Street to facilitate access to the Marketplace until the Parade commences at 4.30 p.m.

The Police are also authorised to close off any streets or portions of streets in Hamilton between the hours of 2.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m., to divert traffic, and to restrict or authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.
