Liquor Establishment Hours Extended To 2am

September 26, 2020

Hours for liquor licensed establishments will be extended from 12 midnight to 2am, the Government confirmed today.

A Government spokesperson said, “At Tuesday’s Covid press conference, and in light of the current regulations expiring this weekend, changes to the public health regulations were announced.

“It is correct that the hours for liquor licensed establishments will be extended from 12 midnight to 2 am by the new regulations which were made yesterday and subsequently gazetted. For clarity, these changes come into force on Sunday morning at 6:01 am, and as such liquor licensed establishments can stay open until 2:00am from Sunday night, 27 September 2020.

Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley noted: “There have been several changes over the various phases and occasionally there is some misunderstanding around what is in force and when. The Bermuda Police Service will continue to work with bar owners to promote compliance with the law and assist in ensuring the safety of patrons of these establishments.”

Extension of sales of “intoxicating liquor” and no warning about drinking and driving or any mention of roadside sobriety checkpoints, business as usual.

You’re like a broken damn record all over the local web. Once your herb is legalized will you be worrying about DUI of ALL mind altering substances or will you still be harping on about booze as if it’s the ONLY substance ? Yeah , the old song ‘Bermudians love to drink’ isn’t far off the truth but we have a per capita drug problem that’s probably worse than alcohol abuse and they’re using our roads as much or more than the rummies coz there’s no legislated test for them .

Of course 12 hours or drinking time is not enough. Those extra 2 hours should be enough to get obliterated
