DofE To Host “Race For The Award” Competition
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award [DofE] in Bermuda will be holding a scavenger hunt and ‘Amazing Race’ themed competition dubbed the “Race for the Award” on Sunday, November 15th.
A spokesperson said, “The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Bermuda [the Award] is pleased to announce the first “Race for the Award” competition to take place on Sunday, 15th November, 1pm-5pm. The “Race for the Award” is an exciting scavenger hunt and ‘Amazing Race’ themed competition in which teams have to work out the clues, navigate to complete various activities and compete to win the race.
Programme Director, Karen Simmons, explained, “The Race for the Award” is an exciting new fundraiser which aims to challenge teams in activities based on the four areas of the Award: Skill, Physical Recreation, Voluntary Service and the Adventurous Journey. There are three categories in which you can enter: Corporate, Friends and Family or Teens.
“It costs $10 per person to enter, kids under 12 are free and to enter a corporate team it is $50. Companies are also encouraged to sponsor an activity station. All the money raised from the event goes directly to supporting the operating costs of the Award, providing the programme free of charge to over 250 boys and girls between the ages of 12 – 24 years from across the island.”
Development Director, Fiona Holmes, said, “The aim of the Race is to be a fun event that family, friends and work colleagues can compete safety in their “bubbles.” Participants are also asked to fundraise to win a prize for the team who raises the most money for the Award. I would encourage everyone to register soon as there is a limited number of teams that can enter. Gather a team of four, choose your start line, East or West and get ready to navigate and test your skills in the 4 sections of the Award to win the race.”

“The Award develops well-rounded, global citizens who take pride in themselves and their communities.”
