Sunday Football Matches ‘Shall Not Proceed’
The BFA said they have been “given notice by the Minister of Health” that all football matches scheduled for Sunday [Dec 6] “shall not proceed,” adding that given the current increase in Covid-19, the “BFA fully understands and supports this decision.”
A statement from the BFA said, “The Executive Council of the Bermuda Football Association has been given notice by the Minister of Health as per Section 88 of the Public Health Act 1949 that all football matches scheduled for Sunday, December 6th shall not proceed.
“As a result of the current increase in the level of Covid-19 transmission in Bermuda the BFA fully understands and supports this decision by the Bermuda Government. The BFA will meet with the relevant Government Ministries in the coming days to determine the way forward and will provide further updates in due course.”
This comes as the amount of confirmed Covid-19 cases have been increasing, with 10 new cases announced today.. The island currently has a total of 288 confirmed positive cases to date, with 63 currently active.

So the Island comes to a halt. Maybe stricter testing rules for returning residents might have helped or maybe those entitled residents who had to fly off island for a couple of days to shop could have stayed put.
Cancel football for those young people who exercise, train and follow the rules. But the bars remain open and let those idiots with no brains and too much money take trips and get on flights without a Covid test!!!!
Why football? Why not field hockey? Cross county? Pony racing? Party’s? Office Christmas functions? Gorhams and Masters were packed today and Lindo’s you couldn’t move.
It’s all part of the plan and this government is helping them achieve it. Agenda 21
So no outdoor football, but indoor bars are still open? How is that logical?
Football where spectators can easily be 6 feet apart in the fresh open air are cancelled. But schools, churches, bars and restaurants are open. Thousands of children each week mingle at dance classes in tight crowded spaces INDOORS.
If you are worried about college students going to football games upon their return home. Require them to isolate in their homes for 8 days or even 14.
Tourists can arrive and almost instantly go all over the island, but we can’t go to a football game!!!!
Time for some common sense. Oh yes that common sense would be spend thousands of $ funding undercover cops to go to the bars because yes, bars are still open as is indoor dining, to fine folks without a mask but cancel football games. SMH
Our freedom is being slowly taken away by a misguided government.
