‘Oil Spill Incident’ In The City Of Hamilton

The City of Hamilton confirmed that shortly before 7am this morning [Feb 8] an “oil spill incident was discovered in the City.”

“The spill affected Church Street, Par-La-Ville Street, Dundonald Street and Cedar Avenue as well as Court Street and King Street; all roads remain open,” a spokesperson said.

“City of Hamilton crews are currently cleaning the spill but are advising caution when accessing those areas. We estimate to have the spill contained within the next 30 minutes.

“The crews are using Sphag Sorb to contain the spill; Sphag Sorb is a natural organic absorbent that is used to clean up oil, gas, diesel fuel, solvents, paints, glycol and organic chemical spills.

“The cause of the spill is under investigation.”

    My 4 yr old daughter had this to say about the oil spill as we walked down Par-La-Ville this morning, “Ugh, that smells like poo! I’m going to be smelling that all day now!”
