Public Urged To Be Careful In Inclement Weather
“Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate in the early hours of Tuesday morning,” the Government said today, adding that a “disruption of public services is not anticipated” however the public is advised to use “extreme care when moving about the island tomorrow.”
As Bernews previously reported, the Bermuda Weather Service issued a Gale Warning valid for late Monday evening through Tuesday morning, and a Thunderstorm Advisory valid for Monday night through Tuesday morning.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] has advised that weather conditions are expected to deteriorate in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
“It’s anticipated that the island will experience windy and rainy conditions similar to last Friday and Saturday [Jan. 29 & 30]. According to the BWS, 25-35 knot winds, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to pass the island Tuesday morning into the early afternoon.
“In that regard, the Ministry of National Security is encouraging the community to exercise safety and caution as the weather conditions worsen.
“The Minister of National Security, Renee Ming notes that a disruption of public services is not anticipated. However, the public is advised to make responsible decisions, this includes using extreme care when moving about the island tomorrow.
“As a final and timely note, Minister Ming reminded the community to ensure that their storm kits are adequately stocked and up to date.
