Audio: LeVar Burton Reads Damion Wilson Story
American Actor Levar Burton — best known for his roles in Star Trek and Roots — featured the short story “Daddy” written by Damion Wilson on an episode of his podcast, with Mr Burton calling Mr Wilson a “very accomplished writer.”
The podcast features short fiction handpicked by Mr Burton himself, who selected the story after reading it in the anthology ‘New Worlds, Old Ways: Speculative Tales from the Caribbean’ book.

Calling Mr Wilson was a “very accomplished writer” and noting that he lives in Bermuda, Mr Burton — who also tweeted the podcast link to his 2 million followers — said that he selected the story as it “mixes together a couple of elements I really love, family and magic.”
Mr Wilson wrote this story while participating in a science fiction writing workshop in 2014 with science fiction writer Tobias Buckell, organized by Dr Kim Dismont-Robinson at Community and Cultural Affairs.
